Entry for September 27, 2006
Height: 5 ft. 6 inches Weight: 365 pounds Age: 45 years, 2 months and 5 days That's where I was on Monday, March 6, 2006. That's also the day I started to change my life for the sake of saving my life. Today is Wednesday, September 27, 2006. I'm still 5 ft. 6 inches "tall." I'm 6 months and 21 days older. But I'm also 103 pounds lighter. Yeah, that's right - I've lost 103 pounds in less than 7 months. I still have 82 more pounds to go before I reach my goal of losing 185 pounds. That'll put me at 180 pounds - the same weight I was at when I married my very patient and beautiful wife Jennifer 16 years ago. I might need to start wearing a pin that says, "No, I don't have cancer, I'm just trying to get healthy" because I'm at that stage in my journey where there is a noticeable, almost stunning difference in my appearance - especially if you haven't seen me in a while. I wasn't sick - yet. Just sick of being fat. So I decided this was probably my best last chance to change my life and the lives Jennifer and our four kids as well. The first few entries on this blog will probably be reflections on why I did what I did and how I did it. Since I'm not at my goal weight yet and if I quit losing weight today I'd still be fat, this blog will also be a way to hold myself accountable, especially when I occasionally hit plateaus. But the biggest motivation I have to tell the story about my transformation through reformation is that I want to help other people see that there is always still hope. And to understand that life is fluid and resilient - even when you totally screw it up. So, if anyone out there reads this, feel free to respond. And feel free to tell your friends about this blog - especially if they're putting their health at risk by being overweight. Tim Adams
